Did you know Winnie the Pooh was a real bear cub. Her name was Winniepeg. She was a black bear cub whose mom was killed by a hunter. She was bought by a lieutenant, became the mascot of his brigade and accompanied them to Britain. Eventually, she was formally presented to the London Zoo in 1919.

It was in the London Zoo the Christopher Robin met Winnie. The little boy loved Winnie and would spend time in the cage with the friendly bear.

A.A. Milne was an author who wrote books about Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin and the other characters who were based on Christopher's toys or the animals around their home. These books became popular.

Disney's daughters loved these Winnie the Pooh stories, which led to Disney bringing Winnie the Pooh to the movies.
