Easter
what is easter all about?
Easter is a very special day for Christians. This event is to mark the resurrection of Christ. Jesus was betrayed and the Jewish leaders put up false charges against him. Jesus was brought before the Roman governor Pilate. Under pressure from the Jewish leader he crucified Jesus. After his crufixifation his body was carried and placed in a tomb. His body was wrapped in cloth and the tomb was covered by a rock. On the third day, the disciples went to his tomb and discovered the rock covering the tomb had rolled away. There was no sign of body and only the cloth which Jesus had been wrapped in. Then the angel told the disciples that Jesus had resurrected. He had overcome death. His mission was to save mankind by dying by our sins. Good Friday commemorates the event of Jesus's crucification and Easter Sunday marks his resurrection.
In fact Easter has been celebrated since New Testament times. Easter falls between March 22 and April 25 every year. The 30 day period before Easter is known as Lent. Christian reflect and repent of their sins during this time.
Easter is also associated with Bunny and Eggs. These represent renewal of life and fertility. Customs include decorating hard boiled eggs and hiding them and getting the children to search for them.
